HSK
The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) is a worldwide test of Chinese language. It is similar to TOEFL or IELTS. The HSK exam report is the only officially recognized Chinese language proficiency certificate for foreigners applying to study and/or work in China. The objective of the test is to assess the Chinese language proficiency of non-native speakers of Chinese. Sydney HSK Centre is the HSK exam Centre in NSW.

HSKK – Chinese Speaking Test
The HSKK is a separate speaking exam that focuses only on oral communication. It has three levels – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced – and is often taken together with the HSK written test to show a complete picture of a student’s Chinese ability.
HSK/YCT Academic Pathway
The HSK and YCT provide a standardized framework for measuring progress in Chinese language learning, offering a clear roadmap from beginner to advanced proficiency.
- YCT (Youth Chinese Test): Designed for primary and secondary school students. Levels 1-4 focus on daily communication skills.
- HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi): The main proficiency test for adults and university students. Levels 1-6 cover everything from basic phrases to complex academic discourse.
